Classic of the Eight Worlds

Author unknown. A massive tome that tells the history and mythology of eight Worlds in a consecutive manner, starting from the emergence of a deity and his struggles, through to the rich and manifold Worlds that he came to be. Divided into eight books which are in turn divided into Memories.

The Preface explains that the original text was made by compiling fragments of Memories obtained by priests through a form of spirit-writing. The fragments were sorted by World and assigned a chronology. The chronology was in some cases reliable, in others, arbitrary, The resulting eight books were then bound and presented to the Emperor. The narration of events goes up until the year when the book was compiled, but no farther, with the result that the Eight book is comparatively short.
